Translation & Certification

The documents must be recent, original and officially translated into Greek (or English) by a certified translator who is registered in the Register of Sworn Translators in Cyprus (OR, by a certified translator of the applicant’s country and a sworn translator in Cyprus). The original and the translated documents must be presented together to our offices.

All the public documents must be legalized as follows:

In case the country of origin of the applicant has signed the Hague Convention of 1961 to be certified by an Apostille stamp. [Pursuant to an EU Regulation, certain public documents (e.g., Certificate of Marital Status, Birth Certificate) are exempt from legalization and the apostille formality within the EU. Exception to the apostille formality is granted to Russia, Czech Republic and Serbia due to a translational agreement between Cyprus and these countries].

In case the country of origin of the applicant has not signed the Hague Convention of 1961 documents to be certified:

(a) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of applicant’s country and then,

(b) by the Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in applicant’s country. If not in that country, stamp of the Embassy/Consulate of the applicant's country in the Republic of Cyprus (or if not, stamp of the Embassy/Consulate of the applicant's origin in the nearest country).

(c) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus
